I've been so busy with Maya's family that I have almost forgotten my own dear, albeit small, family. My nephew Jeb turned 24 this week. He hardly ever comes by, despite only living a few stops away, but he made the trip out to Second Wind, on Thursday, to pick up his birthday present: A well worn, but still functioning Wurlitzer 200. This is bad news for all of you who have been playing around with it, threatening to come back to grab it "some other time." You should have headed my counter-threat: Next time it might not be here.
Jeb arrived with his friend, a nice Chinese boy named David. David drove in his van, so they could take the Piano back to their practice space, and start playing it with their band. Orlando helped to bring it out for them, and they plugged it in right in front of the shop and gave us an impromptu concert, with Jeb on the Wurlitzer and David on an old guitar that he keeps in the back of his van.
I sent Orlando out for some pizza for the boys and and anyone else who was around and we had a feast to follow the concert. Yes, I am a righteous Uncle. Hopefully Jeb will visit a little more often, now. But be careful, if he does that means more of our prize stock might disapear!
